The Subaru Solterra is already generating a lot of buzz around Lakeland and Lakeland Highlands, and it's not hard to see why. This electric SUV is the most technologically advanced Subaru ever made, proving that an off-road ready vehicle can also be eco-friendly. If the Solterra has piqued your interest, there are even more reasons why it should be at the top of your list. Subaru Lakeland has put together a guide to Florida electric vehicle incentives that will further sweeten the deal. Learn more about the Florida EV tax credit below.Â
Florida Electric Car IncentivesÂ
Winter Haven and Bartow drivers can enjoy Florida electric vehicle incentives that make purchasing an EV even more beneficial. EV drivers can apply for an HOV decal from the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. Simply complete the application, drop it off at your tax collector's office, and pay a small fee of $5 or $10 for either 1 or 2 years of use. In addition to being able to use the HOV lane, you will be able to enjoy the added perk of no longer paying for emissions tests, gas, or oil changes.
Florida Electric Vehicle Tax CreditsÂ
Is there a Florida electric car tax credit? Yes! You can take advantage of the Florida electric car rebate by purchasing a Solterra, or any qualifying EV for that matter. What are the benefits of the Florida electric car tax credit? OUC provides rebates of $200 to residential customers who purchase or lease an eligible new or pre-owned electric vehicle. To take advantage, you must apply within six months of the purchase or lease of the EV. Additional details can be found on the OUC Electric Vehicles website if you still have questions about these electric car incentives.
Federal Electric Car RebateÂ
Is there a federal rebate for electric cars? Yes, but the terms have recently changed, so we recommend reviewing them below. Starting January 1, 2023, the following changes will be made as part of the Inflation Reduction Act.Â
- The tax credit of up to $7,500 on qualifying new EVs and hybrid vehicles is extended through 2032; when leased through Subaru's preferred lender, new 2023 Subaru Solterra models are eligible for this $7,500 incentive, which will then be used to lower the lease payment. Ask your retailer for full details on EV financial incentives.
- There will be a new tax credit of up to $4,000 for used EVs put into service after Dec. 31, 2023.
- There will no longer be a 200,000 vehicle sales cap on automakers.Â
There are new parameters on these electric car incentives. The federal EV tax credit will be available to individuals who report adjusted gross incomes of $150,000 or less, or $300,000 for joint filers. Qualifying EVs must be assembled in North America. There are also rules that focus on battery materials and where the components are sourced. If you have questions about Subaru Solterra incentives, be sure to reach out to us for details.Â
Eco-Friendly Vehicle OptionsÂ
To take advantage of the HOV decal, you can choose either a hybrid or an electric vehicle. Only EVs qualify for the federal and Florida electric car rebates. If you are not ready to make the switch to an EV, you still have a wide range of eco-friendly vehicles to choose from.Â
- EVs - Electric vehicles
- PHEVs - Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles
- ILEVs - Inherently low emissions vehicles
- HOVs - High-occupancy vehicles
- AFVs - Alternative fuel vehicles (EVs, PHEVs, biodiesel vehicles, fuel-cell vehicles)
